drivers side auto window and lock malfunction

Hey guys,

It been awhile since i've posted. I got locked out of my account and just finally got it reset.
Anyway, I have a problem with my drivers side auto window and lock control periodically. Currently it will not function for auto locking or drivers and passenger windows to be lowered etc with the exception of allowing the window on the rear drivers side to be lowered, raised etc. This started happening after leaving the drivers side window opened on a rainy night. I know it cannot be a fuse as the problem comes and goes. Any ideas on a fix? Also any ideas on how to remove this unit to check for moisture etc?

Thanks,

Mike

It's probably time to start looking for a door switch assembly.

Nothing's worse than wet and still powered electrical gear, and if it's now intermittent, the electrolysis has already began to corrode everything.

You MIGHT get lucky and clean everything with something like De-Ox-Id and make it work better, but it's usually doomed when the gremlins start in.

De-Ox-Id: http://www.amazon.com/GC-Electronics-DE-OX-ID-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B004SPJN9W We use 30 to 40 cans a year around this shop.

Thanks Adondo. I will start looking into what you have mentioned. Does anyone know how to get at this assembly? Do I have to remove the door panel or does the assembly just pop out?

Exclamation

Hey guys,
to make matters even worse my son put the right rear window down this AM and it will now not go back up. Could this have something to do with my dead drivers side switch panel? On the drivers side switch panel the only buttons that now work is the rear view mirror joy stick and the lever for the left rear window. It is currently -4 and calling for snow/rain tomorrow. woohoo.

Try exercising the disable switch a few times. (The child lock switch) The other three windows feed thru it.

A cheap fix to try might be to hose WD-40 into the switches. It displaces water, and will somewhat clean the contacts, although not as good as the De-Ox. Removing the switch would be best to avoid dripping WD-40 inside the door. And... to WD-40 the connector contacts as well.

Exclamation replaced switch with new and still no luck.

Update: I replaced the switch with a new one from justforjeeps.com and no luck. still nothing works except left rear window. Any new ideas? If not does anyone know how to manually raise a the right rear window? When I removed the right rear trim door panel the door seemed to be quite sealed I do not see the motor etc. HELP! ITS WINTER AND I HAVE PLASTIC OVER THE WINDOW AS IT WILL NOT GO UP!

While reading your first post what I was going to recommend was replacing the drivers side window switch but after reading through all the posts you just replaced it. Honestly it sounds like your having some sort of electrical issue or a fuse problem. Are you sure all the fuses are good?? If I was there with your jeep I would be of more help.

Try the window motors, regulators, tracks. Clean and lubricate. Same with the locks. I had a window that did not come up and the track was dirty.
