TechnoRide has a review of the new DCX navigation system that will appear first in the Wrangler, Nitro, and Sebring and will invariably appear in the Commander.

I wonder if this would drop into a Commander (that had the current navigation system) without modification?

Would this be the RER version?

Most likely it will not drop in to older models. All of the models it is going into use the new high speed interior bus instead of the current CAN B interior bus.

Goodness, didn't they just spend how much to upgrade the BUS in the Grand Cherokee? Now, only two years later they are going to again?

Things move that quick these days, needed more speed. The new bus does 125k while the CAN B did 85 or so. They also have another new interior bus out, the LIN bus in the 06 PT, Caliber/Compass, and soon in a few others. The CAN C remains unchanged, it runs around 500k and will be mandatory in all cars by 2008, the bigest change to OBDII in a while and for a change DCX is way ahead of the rest of the industry on this one.

I guess we're seeing more of Mercedes technology in our DCX models...

I'm having images of the new DCX commercials pop in to my head now. (German engineer in American car commercials).

At least my OBDII reader I used on my 98 VW still works on my 2006 Commander.
