joskt0204 03-27-2007, 05:23 PM I had a flat several weeks ago and had to replace the tire. We moved the spare to the left front and replaced the right front, which then became the spare. Since then, the low tire pressue warning for the spare has been on. Jeep had it for two hours, said it was fixed and would re-set with 10 miles of driving, but they were mistaken. My husband has lowered and raised it and checked the pressure, with no results. This tire didn't give a warning when it was on the right front. Thoughts?

J's Jeep 03-27-2007, 05:42 PM did u recalibrate the tires with the donut?
joskt0204 03-27-2007, 05:47 PM What is a donut? I'd assume Jeep did, if that is what you are supposed to do.
J's Jeep 03-27-2007, 06:53 PM you should have a round magnet(looks like a hockey puck) that recalibrates your pressure. i would check manual(my liberty has one, i just got my commander so i haven't had to do it yet) sorry if this doesn't help:)

Sounds like your dealership didn't do what they were supposed to do. I've gone in w/ low pressure warning on the spare during an oil change, and they took care of it sight-unseen, the warning gone immediately when I picked it up. I recently had them rotate in the spare, and when I drove it away it had no issues. There should be no "break-in" period, they should've re-calibrated it at the shop. (Perhaps they didn't actually air up the flat tire?)

Where was the donut located in your liberty? I'm to lazy to go outside and look in my owners' manual. Thanks...
joskt0204 03-28-2007, 06:33 PM My husband check the tire pressure, so that isn't it. I'll be back at the dealer, I guess. Blah.

JeepCollector 03-28-2007, 08:20 PM The Commander tire pressure monitoring system doesn't use the donut-shaped magnet like the older Grand Cherokees or Libertys to recalibrate sensors. If you rotate the tires yourself they will reset after 10 miles over some minimum speed. I'm not sure if the dealer can reset without driving it, but it does sound like there is something wrong with the system.
IMNMBR1 12-21-2008, 01:08 PM Does anyone have the oem part number for an 2006 commander. I was looking up the sensor by application on 1stjeepparts.com and for the nut and sensor for an 2006 it says it will run around 22.00 a piece. When searching part numbers on here though it seems that the part number comes up 34.20 a piece. Trying to make sure I get the right sensor to put in my rubicon wheels.
Yeggster 12-21-2008, 06:55 PM If you are installing them in new rims you need the nuts too of course ... the part number are listed with and without nuts usually
For the 2006 Commander the Item # shoud be 68001696AB (With Nut)
That' s a good price you have they list for over $50 here
lekmedm 12-22-2008, 10:12 AM I have a different part # for the '06 XK TPMS.

That's the part number for the sensor only without the nut ...
... there's three different part number for this part, one is the seonsor only, one is the nut only, and the last one (I posted) is sensor and nut together.
That's according to my reserch anyway .. I have never actualy ordered them ... but I checked the info at three web sites
08RME 12-23-2008, 06:30 PM wouldnt you need the module as well if you are installing them on new wheels?.......anyway the dealer i go to here in long island has them listed on their website for internet prices of $34.64 for the sensor and 35 cents for the nut....their website is www.moparonlineparts.com
Spike 12-23-2008, 07:19 PM I've noticed that the 2006 OEM Tire Pressure Sensors do not work reliably when the ambient temperature goes to freezing or less (when you really need reliable TPS function). My dealer has done a sensor/sender replacement, but the TPS device still is not working when it's cold (freezing or below). The dealer has not addressed a possible problem with the receiver (very expensive).
Anyone else see this problem?

How do you know it's not working? Are you saying it illuminates when the tires are the correct pressure, or are you saying that it doesn't illuminate when you know the tire pressure is low?
Riddle 12-24-2008, 07:11 AM I've experienced a bit of trouble with the TPMS. Twice on long trips in the cold and wet at highway speeds. The yellow caution will come on. When I checked the dash reading, I get two dashes instead of numbers. Usually it has trouble reading the left rear, but it may move around or even clear up entirely. Then come back on later. And just to irritate me further it sometimes indicates the spare tire is low. Did I mention the cold and the wet? This gremlin obviously gets perverse amusement out of stopping me to have me crawl under the Jeep in the snow to check the pressure on on a pristine spare tire.
I can't replicate the problem on my own, let alone for the dealer.
Dirt65 12-30-2008, 04:06 PM I have a question on the tire sensors. Are they mated to the vehicle? The reason I ask this is I needed to a new tire mounted for my spare. I left the tire at the shop, and the light stayed on. I checked the pressure in the remaining tires they all were fine. Just curious
a49erFan 12-30-2008, 05:50 PM They are specific to model year, meaning some will only work on certain model years.
