between the lift and wheels/tires, the proportions on the whole truck look great. How much lift did you add? What size wheels?

RUT ROW 10-02-2006, 09:55 PM on what part of the vehicle did you apply the 3M Clear Mask ?
The clear mask was installed on the front bumper, grill, headlights and fog lights, chrome bottom piece, and the first 18" of the hood and front fenders. It took the installer 6 hours at my home. I would not tackle this after watching him. He came highly recommended to me.

bravo2376 10-03-2006, 11:53 AM RUT ROW, while the questions are rollling, what do you mean when you say 'Speedometer Recalibrated' and why?
topcop38 10-03-2006, 01:34 PM when you change tire height it will throw off your speedometer. going to a taller tire is equal to reducing your rear end ratio, thus lowering your RPM at equal speeds.
if i remember right the speedo will read a slower MPH then you are actually going when running a larger tire.

This is correct. Unless you are going to 33 inch or greater tires you probably get away without calibrating.
rubicontrail.net 10-03-2006, 02:02 PM Are the Silverstars a big improvement over the stock XK bulbs? I know when I switched to them in my Cherokee it was a big improvement.

They made a huge difference, I was pleasantly surprised.

Although I not certain, I was concerned with possible warranty issues being that the odometer would not be correct.

Hmm guess I know what I will be doing whenever I get a free moment this week or next. Do you know of anyone who carries the 9006SU Silverstar ULTRA bulb (as opposed to the 9006ST Silverstar bulb).
Also, did you replace your fog lights too?
JeepCollector 10-03-2006, 07:38 PM But how did you recalibrate it? I know the dealer can only recalibrate for the factory size tires and I haven't seen any aftermarket boxes out for the Commander yet.

I went to the Sylvania website and looked up a local dealer. Yes I did replace the foglights.

The dealer service dept. did it, I didn't see them. I intended to varify it with my gps today but forgot to get it out of the rv.

SF_JEEP 10-11-2006, 02:33 PM Rut Row - I see that you purchased the 2.25'' lift kit. Did you buy new shocks or is it stock? How is the ride?
My06Commander 10-11-2006, 04:26 PM WOW! RUT ROW! that jeep is amazing. Nice work & great taste

I tried it both ways and with the stock shocks they just didn't have enough extension to keep the wheels on the ground in rough stuff (on pavement). There was a significant improvement with the optional shock.
I must mention it could be better if they had matching coil overs for the front. When front and rear are not matched you're likely to sense the rythum of the suspension being somewhat out of sync. I'm particular and I find it acceptable.

Rut Row - thanks for the reply. I was wondering if you have any pictures of your JC with the lift and stock tires?
Thanks.

I did... note the last pic marked after!:p
SF_JEEP 10-15-2006, 09:17 AM Rut Row-Thanks for posting the Before and After pics. Where did you get the "S" metal cover on the rear axle?
Thanks!

The cover is SuperLift's eXtreme Ring Differential Cover; I ordered it thru 4Wheel Parts.
I should note that both of the before and after pics are with the Lift. The difference is between stock wheels and tires and after market w/265/70R17's.
