Ok for starters not sure why jeep even makes a 2wd commander and second not sure why i bought one. I got the commander for the third row since i have 3 kids. I actually shouldve done more research i assumed when i asked the dealer was this awd ( cause i didnt see a transferc case button) he said yes i figured he knew what he was talking about. Ok so with that said my question is with out trading my commander in and loosing a ton on negative equity, anyone know of turning a 2wd into a 4wd? Right now in seeing price wise it can be done for $2500 to $3000? I know jeep does use alot of same parts so can i buy this stuff and be fairly bolt on? Everything from new trany on..........btw im doing all the labor myself. And the next question one would have is why not put that money into the equity and trade it off?? the answer to that is i just bought the jeep and right now 3k would only be about half of what i owe. or is the sad reality wait 2 yrs and then trade it off? lol Thanks for the time!

How do you know it does not have QT1 (Quadra Trac 1), which would be the full time 4WD system it would have if the there is no 4 low lever ?

I would assume they make it to help meet cafe fuel economy standards by selling them to rental car firms, southerners, and old people. Only sure fire way to determine is to crawl under and count drive shafts, if one goes forward from just behind the trans, its 4x4, if not, craigslist it. Conversion would be a big mistake. More money and effort than a father of 3 wants to waste. Good luck!
