So I could not wait for 4.7 to design a rear bumper/tire carrier because of upcoming road trips and the need for a spare tire. So I broke down and picked up a TireGate that goes in the 2" hitch.

VERY VERY nice, what did it run you and where did you get it?

I got it direct from TireGate as a distrubutor thru my business. And I am going to do an evaluation and write up and try to negotiate a discount for those interested XK owners. Retail on this is $690 plus shipping. Comes in two large boxes via freight.

Looks good !!! Are you going to place the plate? I would like it better if the tire were in the midle and not to the side, but it looks good...

Yes. I have the plate kit to relocate the plate. Just have not put on yet. Yeah, I kind of thought the same thing about the tire placement.

Maybe you can have someone cut it and weld it in the center some black paint, nad you would be set...

(Bowing to the king) You are the man!!!! Are you going to have to relocate your license plate?

Yes, I have to. Can't see my plate from behind the vehicle. I do have the plate kit to install this weekend. I believe it mounts under the tire.

interesting. so are your back up sensors tweaking out yet?

it doesn't look too bad.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention...

The Park Assist Sensors are now useless! That's why a steel rear bumper with tire carrier and sensors from 4.7 will be the ideal solution.

So I have a call into Service to see if there is a way to completely disable the sensors so they dont scream at me for 10 seconds every time I put it in reverse.

It would also block the back-up camera if you had one.

Losing the sensors and camera is a big disapointment. I hope 4.7 is saving BOTH, HINT! :)

Saving the sensors should be easy, but the OEM camera is mounted in the center of the liscense plate chrome hood thingy and a large tire mounted back there to the side or centered will block it. So relocating the camera to the bumper would be needed.

No, the factory camera is mounted on the driver's side of the license plate brow ("chrome hood thingy"). But it would still be blocked with a center mounted tire.

I am just hoping 4.7 can relocate the OEM camera as part of his modification as it would be a shame to lose it. Any mount on the back of the commander would mess with the current location.

i have a friend who's girlfriend has a 2007 XK with the camera. i'm going to take measurements off it and see what will block the view.
Remember it is a wide-angle camera,

If you design a licence plate holder as part of your assembley you may be able to include the camera in that but would need to take the wire into account when the mount swings out of the way. Maybe a quick disconect or something.

With some drilling and wire splicing, do you think you could relocate the park assist sensors to the round support bar that runs underneath the hinged tire holder?

WoW,,, that is really really good work done.

I wished if they located the spare tire in that location originally from the factory. for me I would have added a water tank below in the current spare tire location.

It partially blocks the left parking light and reverse light.. is that ok with your local authorities !!
