This looks like good info...Thanks for the post. This may help in getting the rear camera install to work. I have been trying to find a way to add the factory rear camera and use the REC NAV Radio since I have the radio with the 3 pin camera connector. Thanks again!
I emailed costaletech.com, and asked about a group purchase discount. Here's what they said:

Hello AJ,Congratulations on your forum and thank you for your questions. For the MyGig Lockpicks, we have always had a discount available on the wkjeeps.com informational site http://www.wkjeeps.com/MyGIG_Lockpick.htm which automatically gave a $30.00 discount to individual purchasers without need for multiple purchases. This way, there is no need to wait to get a certain number of people together to obtain a discount or have any of the multiple enthusiast communities wrestle with each other trying to get members to order through them to reach a quota. The discount and coastal website registration described on the link will include the REC Lockpick so the REC Lockpick will be discounted by $30.00 when ordered this way. There is also a great deal of information on this site for REC radio owners detailing the applicable radios for the REC Lockpick and factory accessories available.

They said that I could tell all of you about it, and that they would extend the discount to jeepcommander.com members! Hooray!

Jon,
If you have the rear camera install from factory, the lockpick will add the ability to turn on the rear camera any time, not just in reverse. Great for monitoring while your towing or in my case, just great to have as a secondary rearview mirror since my rear window visability is so poor with the tire there.
It adds the ability to override the NAV lockout while in motion which is a great feature for the wife to use from the passenger seat while I am driving.
If you do not already have the factory rear DVD system installed, the lockpick adds the VES mode (Video Entertainment System). In this mode, you can add an after market DVD system and even view it right on the screen. Or you can pump an external audio source through here like an iPod. Or you add a second camera like up front as a park assist or a baby cam in the middle row. For me, since I have the factory rear DVD system already, I would use this feature and splice in the video feed from the rear to the front screen to make it easier to know where the kids are with their movie. Biggest design flaw of the rear system is that we pop a DVD in for the kids and take off down the road. They watch all the previews and the DVD gets to the menu and just sits there waiting for someone to select play. Then my wife has to try and see the rear screen from the front passenger seat which is not easy in order to figure out where they are on the DVD and try to select the right option from the menu.
that is exaclty the problem i have with the rear ves, has anyone tried this product and tried splicing in the video from the factory dvd player? if so is there a standard plug in to splice into either somewhere on the in dash unit or into this product? i would love to be able to view the progress of the rear dvd in the front if for nothing else than to be able to navigate the menus while not in motion without haveing to use a matrix type leanback from the front seat.

I do have the camera so I can see that as a plus as long as the rear tire mount does not block the camera.

I added the factory VES so I have that system, you are saying that the video can be viewed up front with the lockpic? If so that would work great for when I am using my XK for security and just sitting in it all night watching Lamborginis.

The factory VES system does not have a aux video output. However, there is a video cable that runs from the DVD player behind the center console up to the monitor on the interior roof. That cable would need to be spliced so the feed goes up to the roof monitor and a also to the lockpic. Then, you could pump the video to the front screen to watch.
At first I was thinking of upgrading to the MyGig for the storage and touch screen, but after thinking about it, my focus and money needs to be on custom mods for front suspension as well as a front bumper/ bracket for the Warn powerplant winch. The REC system is perfect for my off road needs and this lockpick will add the ideal features.
are you doing this soon. I too have the factory VES and would love to be able to view it up front. MY wife usually controls the VES and I can see a real need for seeing the movie up front to assist in helping the kids out..
I also would like to have the lockout for address entry removed!
Let me know what will need top be done to "splice" into the REC so I can view the movie on both screens! like what kinda wire we will need??

Just order it and a flush mount camera to install inthe bumper just below my tiregate. I will post video or photos of install process when I get the parts.
So LockPick and a bullet cam orders confirmed. Bullet cam is to flush mount in the bumper since my Tiregate blocks the factory location of the rear camera. I am now selling the OEM camera parts I had originally ordered. Can't wait to install. I took the dash apart yesterday to see how easy it was to get to back of REC unit. Not hard at all once I figured out which "rivet" bolts to take out. Not all of them are used to help hold dash in. It was funny, had the dash out on the ground and the wife walks out. Her look on her face was priceless! She says just because she got me new tools for the Jeep for Father's Day that I shouldn't go taking apart my Jeep. LOL.
Yes, I followed the steps off the WK Jeep site and only had to use a different user name or password. Can't remember which because it said that one of them was already in use.
Well I ordered the LockPic as well and it should be here by Thursday. If anyone else orders and has trouble with the discount just call them and they take care of it over the phone.
My only concern is how or what wires to splice from the factory rear DVD player to the LockPic (The lockpic has an RCA video in plug). I took the cover off of the factor DVD player and there are 3 video wires. 1 is marked "video", 1 marked "video shield", and 1 marked "video ground". I am not sure which 2 wires I would tap into from the DVD player to the Lockpic since there are only 2 needed for an RCA plug and the DVD player seems to list 3 total "video" wires. I would only need 2 wires to connect from the DVD player to the video in (RCA Jack) on the LockPic and am guessing the video sheild and video but if anyone can offer any help it would be appreciated.
If any of this makes sense you are already a step ahead of me!!!!
Commander Ron, can you post a pic? My lockpic is due in on Wednesday but this weekend I am trailing in Pagosa Springs, CO so its going to have to wait till next week.
I am not going to do the install until the rear lift gate handle comes in so I can install the camera as well. It may be here by Friday but they were not sure. I am also waiting for the lockPic guys to respond to my emails concerning the questions I have. They sell you their product super fast but the technical questions never seem to get replied to.
Here are the pics. If you look at the Lower plug and wires on the rear DVD player I am talking about are the ones numbered from the top left to right. The first one is number 9 marked video shield, then to the right, number 1 marked video ground, and then directly under 1 is number 2 marked video ground. These are the same wires that run from the overhead monitor.
The upper plug is marked mostly for audio and no video wires.
To remove the player you simply pull it straight back. There are no screws holding it and you can see from the pics they are push-in type pins. The overhead screen is simple as well. Remove the 2 screws under the remote storage area and then there are 2 push-in type pins to the rear or front of the Jeep (different from the lower unit).
