transmission cooler

My 2007 commander with the 5.7 HEMI did not come with the trailer hitch installed. I am getting it installed shortly and I got to talking to a non Jeep garage cause they will be doing the install and the mechanic asked if it had a tranny cooler we went and looked and saw 3 radiators. One for the main one for the power steering and one the mechanic says is for the ac. The Jeep does have a tow haul button inside but does it have a tranny cooler? And what exactly does the tow haul button inside do?

I too installed an aftermarket hitch on my 4.7. Im not sure about the cooler but the tow haul turns off overdrive. Kills mpg but it's easier to accelerate and it also helps by engine braking on hills.

I too installed the tow combination from Jeep on my 4.7. Not sure it came with a transmission cooler.

There should be a transmission cooler integrated into the radiator. The coolers on the front are: steering, A/C, radiator/transmission.

The tow/haul mode locks out 5th gear/overdrive, and adjusts the shift points to hold in gears longer to maximize towing power. Yes, it kills MPG, but so does towing, and I'd rather have bad gas mileage instead of a burned out transmission.

Actually, the trans cooler is built into the A/C condenser......damndest thing I've ever seen.
Seems Jeep and Chryco have been doing this for years......they pulled a fast one on this ole mechanic.

Regardless, the good news is they all have the trans cooler, regardless of tow package.

@ Robby. So I am just wondering what do I have in front of my radiator? It is smaller than a radiator, but looks like one.

Steve.

The infamous power steering cooler. If you add a extra cooler to the power steering cooler you will get foaming of the power steering fluid for some reason and will have to flush your system and remove the extra cooler.

Trust me, It is forever on the Internet when you mess up and do that.
