Lift change!

So it's finally been warm enough to change some of my lift parts here in wyoming.

Today I changed the ford Aerostar rear springs out for a set of original commander (was a hemi with tow) springs and a 2.25" RR spacer lift I picked up on the board a while back.

Passenger side was easy peasy. When I pulled the old spring out it doubled in length. I also added some washers to one side of one shock that was loose in the custom bracket (yay no more hollow thumping sound).

Next the drivers side. The shock was an issue. Tried the bottom bolt first only to discover that it was corroded to the steel sleeve in the rubber bushing and wouldn't come out. Tried the top one next--same issue. So I dremmeled off enough if each bolt to get them out.
When the sprqing came out and I went to bolt on the spacer I discovered that a bolt had previously sheared off in the bolt hole. I ended up drilling it out in progressively larger bits to re-tap the hole. Getting the tap wasn't hard, but finding new crush sleeves/bushings for the shocks was another matter--6 stores/tire shops later nothing. At the last store a gentleman says come by my shop, I'll look and see if I have some--went over and lo and behold a random shop had what various parts stores and tire shops did not.

Finally got it done around 7pm tonight, and discovered that I'm now running stink bug style with 37.5 inches from ground to bottom of fender flare, while the front is running 36" total.

Guess I'll have to do the front in a week or two.

After changing the rear lift I noticed the passenger side tends to sit .5-1" taller than the drivers side on a frequent basis, are the springs side specific?

The OME rear springs are side specific so it wouldn't surprise me if the OEM's were too, but no clue how to tell the difference other than swapping and seeing if it levels you back out.

Im not positive if the oem springs are side specific, but like mentioned above, my Old Man Emu HD springs are. The spring thats 10mm taller I put on the drivers side like recommended to help with the extra weight of the gas tank. If your passenger side sits almost an inch higher now wait till you full your gas tank...lol I would swap sides with the springs and see if that helps. For future reference measure the springs prior to install. That statement isnt towards you but more towards others that read this thread so they dont have to do the install twice. Install the taller spring on the drivers side.

07JeepXK - Did you install both the front and back taller springs on the driver side?

Only the rear is different on the OME, fronts are the same.

Swapped the rear springs today, and if anything it's a 1/4" taller than it was before on the passenger side.

Anyone have an idea what would cause the passenger rear to ride higher than the drivers side continuously?

Any idea how to fix it other than a custom spacer?
