I have a rattle that i am trying to find in the front, I have changed my sway bar bushings a month ago, rattle still there, this morning i took off the end links and went for a drive, the rattle is still there.
I have no wear on the tires, everything seems tight, its been 2 years since i installed the 2" daystar lift so i am stumped
I noticed my CV boot is ripped, but everything seems tight, should i just replace the boot and add grease if so what kind?
On the same note how many are running with there front sway bar disconnected full time?
Replace the axle with a reman......trust me on this, you will be hating life if you try this yourself.
And to add insult, while jacking around with the one end you'll likely tear the other.
I think many have tried.....all have failed.
This won't make a rattle over bumps though.
Since you have driven it with the sway bar disco'd, you should be able to determine which side is the culprit.
Using a good hydraulic jack, raise the wheel off the ground by lifting at the lower control arm.....just a inch off the ground will be adequete.
Now grab the top of the tire and try to rock it in and out towards the tire center.
Do the same thing, grabbing the lower part of the tire.....you are trying to see if each ball joint is tight......bad ones have in and out free play.
If all is well, grab the front of the tire and push in/pull out, like you are turning left/right.
If any looseness is felt, slide under there and determine if it is the outer tie rod end at the wheel or the inner tie rod, in the rack.
If all those are tight, then you may have loosened the upper strut nut....or it wasn't fully tightened and now has come a bit loose.
Some members have been able to tighten this nut through the access hole under the hood using a deep socket......you may have to grind the socket sidewalls for clearance.
Your rattle may be the ball joints. The lift adds a lot of new stress to them. I heard a rattle on my Rough Country lifted rig and ordered uppers and lowers for both sides....I had a joint fail while driving the same day they arrived in the mail!! Don't ignore the noise!!
Can I ask where you ordered them from and what the cost was. I have a noise, but I hope it is my sway bar bushing. I might disconnect to see if the noise goes away.

I just replaced my swaybar bushings with thermal poly bushings and it fixed the rattle i had for about 2 years. hopefuly my lower control arm bushings dont go bad becuase the bushings cant be replaced without replacing the whole lower control arm. since its all one peice. the bushings were only 22 dollars at local auto parts store.
Another plus to upgrading to ploy thermal blue bushings is the improvement in handleing due to a tougher bushing.
