It would be difficult for something big enough to do damage to your motor to get in there, but anything is possible. You shouldn't even worry about it since that possibility is so unlikely, but of course, get it replaced sooner rather than later.

Just to calm your concerns a bit, get a flashlight and shine it into the box the tube attaches to. The one that mounts on top. You'll probably see light dust, but not much more.

Honestly, my 4.7 intake looks the same as that.

If ya don't want to buy a shiney new one from dealership, you could probably get away with a junk yard find. With a 3.7 or 4.7, you could look for some Rams/Dakotas as well.

Autozone has some universal 3" ones for $20 but my dealership can order one for $36. I don't mind used as long as it works!
