Code P0700 = Transmission Control System Malfunction

I know I'm a bit late into the game, but I just purchased my 06 Commander 3.7L 16 days ago. I had an "As-Is Warranty" for 15 days from the dealership... yes. 15 days... dash lights up on day 16. Joy. So I contacted the dealership, and guess what. Can't decide if they want to help. Not a yes. Not a no.

So I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow and they are going to run "tests" on it themselves. I know it is a P0700, as I ran it myself. Also came up with the "insufficient info" code. So I know I need to change out the shifter bezel/ESM.

The cheapest one I found was online and they want $602 for it. The local Jeep dealership wants $747, but said they could discount it to $600 for me, since I found the same part online. Has ANYONE found this part cheaper ANYWHERE???? I really do not want to dish out $600 for my new Jeep.

I had that code 0700 and i think 0748.... my end result though was a 2,700 tranny to fix it. It was stalling at stop signs miss shifting a d slamming gears up and downshifting. Hopefully in your case its just that bezel. I was not so fortunate.

That is where I am at right now, What they thought was a locked up solenoid in the valve body had turned into a trans replacement.
After dropping the pan there was metal in the filter, which I'm sure is in the valve body and locking up the solenoids.
What really bothers me about this is I did the maintenance.
First trans fluid change was at 80,000 miles, I don't pull a trailer so according to my manual I was 20,000 miles early for the first change.
I changed it again at 120,000. Total trans failure at 127,000.
Really looking for an answer as to why. I have done a lot of searching of troubles with the NAG1 and can't find where or why this happened.
Oh well, it's only money, new pole barn will have to wait again.

Just got codes U0404 and P0700, and wanted to let everyone know I did what this guy did... http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=32822 and it has fixed the problem. If you have a torx set, pocket screwdriver, and some electronics cleaner save yourself the money. or go buy those tools its still cheaper than the part.

My turn! I have the same problem PolarBZ described above. I tried the fix from the SRT forum posted above as well to no avail. Might be time for a trans shop.

Well it's in the shop. They told me it would need rebuilt. Anywhere from $1600-3000 depending on what was wrong.

They called today and said it would be $2500. Freaking sucks.

My turn, gonna start with bezel but I suspect bad solenoid and/or cracked filter as well. I only get the p0700 code. I'll let you guys know what's good and what's bad in my case.

Cleaned the egsm/esm and changed filters in the transfer but there was no change. Jeep is now at a shop and going to get looked on Monday.
