Look at the trim around the transmission shift gate. On the lower edge it should read QuadraTrac I, QuadraTrac II or QuadraDrive II. For the latter two, there will also be a "T" shaped, chrome lever to the right of the shift gate for shifting into low gear. If you have a 4x2, the area next to the shift gate will be a narrow and shallow open bin about the size of a large cell phone. Also, check if you have the Trail Rated badge on the driver's side. Some models came with a 4x4 badge on the rear deck lid.

If you want to check for sure, look under the front suspension and there should be unequal length drive shafts running to the front wheels or look under the right front passenger area and there should be a transfer case or skid plate protecting it.

That is not correct. The only 4WD system that has a badge by the shifter is the Quadra-Drive II.

My 09 Hemi does not have any kind of a label by the shift gate. I'm trying to determine which system I have as well.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information from, but only QDII will have the chrome script by the shifter. There is no chrome script by the shifter for either QTI, or QTII. All Commanders that are 4X4 will be full time 4X4. A 3.7 V6 can have QTI, which has the NV140 single-speed transfer case; thus no low gear and no T-handle by the shifter. The 4.7 V8 and the 5.7 V8 (if 4X4) both come standard with the NV245 2-speed transfer case, which incorporates the T-handle by the shifter to shift between high and low, as well as neutral. The clutch pak in the transfer case allows 100% of the available torque to be shifted between the axles. Normal torque split is 48/52. QDII is optional on the 4.7V8 and 5.7V8. QDII also incorporates the NV245 transfer case and adds front and rear Electronic Limited-Slip Differentials (ELSD). As mentioned above, QDII is indicated by the chrome script behind the shifter. The ELSD's allow 100% of the availabe torque to be shifted to any one wheel.

Or you could go out for a drive. If you get stuck, it is only two wheel drive.

That's sort of what I was thinking, Commander is in 3 feet of snow ... good .... put wife in Commander tell her to shift it to Drive and floor it ... observe front wheels for evidence of spinning

Send a message via Skype™ to TYMAC
Or you could write down the Vehicle ID# and call the dealer. Their service department can tell you. Merry Christmas!

I've noticed in the last few weeks a lot of members have been asking if there XK is 4wd or not. I find it humorous that people are spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle and dont even know what they are getting. Boy would I love to be a car salesman.
