I posted a little blurb about this recently - just changed my rear shocks and front sway bar bushings & end links at 100K miles. I got the MOOG bushings (1.34"), but they had the center bead and my '06 brackets didn't, so I had to get new brackets at the dealer - luckily only $10 each. In my case, that stopped the front end rattle & squeaking over bumps. The bolts are M14 x 2.0 (by the way, that's a hard tap size to find at your local auto or hardware store - I know because I goobered up a thread or two reinstalling one of the bolts and had to chase it with a tap).
Socket size should be 22mm (7/8" might work).

I am going to change mine as well, when I looked under i noticed on the sway bar on the outside of the bushing is a washer it looks like, one is 1 " apprx from the bushing and the other is touching the bushing, is there any reason for this?? I have a 06, 4.6L and never seen washers on the sway bar.

Those are just hard stops (they are welded to the sway bar). They keep the bar relatively centered. Mine was offset toward the passenger side a bit. Just try to center the bar best you can when installing new bushings. One recommendation - do one side at a time (it will help support the weight of the sway bar assembly). You can loosen the remaining side a little if you need to slide the sway bar over to center it.

Sway Bar Bushings replaced..

A big thanks to all...
'"SILVER" had gradually developed a "clunk" in the frontend when navigating railroad tracks, potholes etc..... not a huge noise but just enough to be annoying....

.... so a few searches here on this forum.... and it seemed to be sway bar bushing related....

My '06 LTD with 65K received a new pair of MOOG aftermarket sway bar bushings (1.32in -- the larger size -- blue in color)...

Was suprised at how easy the fix was -- 4 bolts and 2 new bushings later....
....and SILVER is all bettter...

THANK YOU .... to all that contribute to this forum to aid Commander owners.

VERY MUCH APPRECIATED......
