Re: ** Whats your HEMI mpg **

We recently did a 6000 mile trip across the US. On the way out, when trying to make time and driving @80+ MPH we averaged about 13.9MPG. On the return trip we routinely achieved 16-18 MPG by slowing down and using the cruise control. Living in San Diego, we never, ever used the cruise control. We were fully loaded with a 18 cubic foot carrier on top.

At one point during the trip leaving Carlsbad Caverns N.M. we screwed up and thought we had enough gas but did not. We backtracked to an alternate route to get to the nearest gas station which was 44 miles away. At this time the gas light was on, EVIC read 0 to empty which typically means you have 2 to 2.5 gallons left. Using cruise control @ 55, turning off AC and any electrical devices we started with 23.2 MPG and ended with 20.7 mpg. When we pulled into the gas station we only had .4 gallons left. Far too little with 2 kids, the wife, 100 degree heat in a desolate area.

Cruise control @ 83- 14mpg
Cruise control @ 78- 16mpg
Cruise control @ 73- 17mpg
Cruise control @ 65- 18mpg

It was great trip. My little "pepe" was outstanding and comfortable and felt very safe even running through a hellacious thunderstorm in Texas.

Re: ** Whats your HEMI mpg **

From what SDBaja said...looks like things improve when the AC compressor is off. I look foward to winter.

I wish the tank had a larger capacity for the Hemi.

I agree, this size is ridiculous for the hemi if not for all of them. Heck my wifes 96 Grand with the 4.0L engine has a 23 gal tank. john

Re: ** Whats your HEMI mpg **

I took off the snorkle, replaced the air filter (not enough $$ for a new intake yet), and reset the computer and I'm still looking at 12.7.

Re: ** Whats your HEMI mpg **

I'm getting just about the same as SD Baja and Jeepney1. The only change from stock is I'm running Mobil 1 Synthetic.

My 09 gets a solid 13 city and a solid 19 on the highway. I have seen as good as 21+ on the highway at times.

Proof in the picture! This was on I-81S between Bristol and the I-40 split, reset at Bristol so about a 20+ mile average at the speed shown(cruise set)

I average 15 - 16 in mixed driving. Cruising on the highway I can get 21 - 22 depending on the terrain.
