Agreed! Very well said!

When trashing the Canadian Military spending budget, a few thoughts come to mind. I do agree that the Canadian military budget IS small, but to state that the reason was because "Big Brother" has our backs is not totally the case. If you look at opinions of other countries, on other nations... Canada, since we are not interested in war for personal gain, is what seperates us from the US. I really hate talking about political views and the "my country is better then yours" discussions.... no one will ever win. One thing you will notice about Canadians, is that we don't impose our beliefs, we share our opinion and possible solutions... we don't need to... we are who we are. We may not be the most powerful... the most rich... it doesn't bother us. We live peacefully and help out where we can when it comes to global issues. The close relationship between our 2 Nations is so tight governmentally and socially. Governmentally, one descriptive word.... freetrade... our Freetrade relationship is what ties our 2 Nations very tightly...mainly due to the reason that Canada supplies the US with most of it's natural resources such as oil, lumber, and electricity... you think that Mexico has the resources to keep that size of a Nation supplimented with natural resources? 1/3 of the northern states are supplimented by Canadian reactors. 80% of our crude oil is pumped directly to the US. Remember that giant black out 5-7 years ago in the north and eastern states... that was caused because of one of our nuclear plants. The ties between the US and Canada are very strong. We sleep easy at night knowing "big brother" has got our back, and Americans can sleep well at night knowing that there will be lights on at night (most of the time...lol.) and the supply of natural resources will continue to flow.

I personally think the relationship between our 2 Nations is what makes us BOTH great! We share common goals, ideals and values... some may differ, but like in all graet relationships, difference leads change... change leads ideas... ideas lead greatness.

I love you guys

...and I know you love us too.

Be absolutely specific when you say that America is interested in war for personal gain. The war for oil myth is about as laughable as global warming and if you want to play that card back it up with facts and show me where we are bringing in all of this oil from Iraq. Not being powerful and rich doesn't bother you guys because it doesn't have to. If Israel or Kuwait or several other countries were being craddled by the U.S. being powerful wouldn't matter in the least bit to them either. If Canada was sitting assed out in another part of the world you would not be singing that song and you would be fighting to keep your border safe and trying to protect whatever resources you have from radical maniacs.

Just remember I was trashing the budget, not the people.

But what gets me is when a person not from our country drinks the Kool-aid of bashing leaders. Granted Bush may not be a favorite obvious by one of your leaders remarks caught on tape showing total disrespect toward him in a conversation. But the simple fact is the people of this country has become bleeding hearts. And frankly that is killing our country. Always wanting to create a social program here because it works over there. Forgeting the amount of taxes required to create those programs. Our housing crisis started in the Carter administration, bleeding hearts meant well and it back fired big time. Remember the economy doesn't change over night like the stocks would have you believe its a long 5 to 10+ year adjustment as things change, peoples habits change etc.

As for the gas... send some my way will ya.

Politics and religion a no-no...

There are those who are adept at discussing and agree to disagree these subjects, but too many people feel feel so strongly about them that it can get nasty. Don't forget to love one another!

I was generalizing on the thoughts that media try to concentrate the focus of society on... this I appologize for. I did not mean that this was my view... it could not be further from the truth. The point was, that since we ARE colocated, we value eachother's strengths and provide assistance to the other when they require it...and when we can. Saying that Canada is craddled is not fair.
I would also like to know how Afghanistan is fighting too keep thier border safe from radicals? Whenever past US governements look to other Nations to support champaigns, Canada is always the first to be asked. On a global scale, "if Canada is involved, it must be a justifiable move and worthwhile move", tends to be the common belief. trying to say that we are craddled is not even close to being valid. If it wasn't for the Canadian and US freetrade agreement, the US would find it very hard to function as a "super-power", and on the other side of the coin, Canada would have to concentrate more on funding military initiatives and less on the well being of all it's people.

Afghanistan? Look, I swore I would not get into these discussions in this forum and I will not begin now. I am going to leave this alone. In closing, understand this Sir, there are many things in this world that are not as they seem nor are they as reported. I do have to tell you though, the part about "when Canada is involved, people think that it is justifiable and worthwhile" made me roar with laughter and will be forwarded around the world as my joke of the day.

I can't really say how I think Obama is doing after 2 days or how he will do in the future. The only thing I know currently is that I have an uneasy felling about this President. There have been other Presidents over the years I didn't vote or care for, but I have never had this uneasy feeling as I do now.
We will have to see. I hope for the sake of the country my uneasy gut feeling is wrong.
