Has anyone added after market radio & retained U-Connect?

Has anyone changed out there radio on the non nav 06 or 07, and still keep the uconnect function?

Just bringing this up againg as I am a new commander owner and want to change out my deck for an aftermarket navi/dvd unit. From what
I have been told this is not possable

I also want to change mine out. It's an '06 without nav. I want to add an aftermarket double din head unit, but from what I have read, you can't switch it out unless you have a OEM "surround" from one with a nav. I'm not sure if you can order these somewhere. I've been looking. I'm not familiar with a UConnect. What are you referring to? Is this another issue that I'm going to have to deal with once I figure the "surround" issue out? I'd really prefer not to install a single din head unit.

UConnect is the factory Bluetooth handfree system for cell phones. You can't retain it when upgrading as you have to bypass certain parts of the CAN BUS system to install the aftermarket head unit.
