Dealer installed uconnect and Caller ID

I have the uconnect and I was wanting to know if it is supposed to display the number on the radio. I also have the option to call in my navigation but it is greyed out and I cant select it.

No, the dealer installed one doesn't interface the same way as the factory system. The factory system has a telematics unit that connects directly to the CAN BUS system, allowing it to show caller ID and the phonebook on the screen, and enabling the "Call" option on the NAV system. There isn't a way to program the system to show the number on the NAV screen.

Then what is the purpose of the wire harness that hooks into the radio? Just to mute the volume?
