Re: Swapping Sirius unit for Ipod adaptor?
Hmm, I'm not really fond of putting my ipod in the glovebox and just having to live with whatever happens to be playing at the time. I've seen the plug-in FM modulators that you mount up under your dash and such....
I guess my exact question would be:
Does the Sirius unit installed from the factory use a PIC interface to the head unit, or a proprietary one? If it uses a PIC, no problem, I can simply swap it out for an iCruize or the like, and control the iPod from the head unit its self. Because, let's be honest - it may sound "ok" over fm, and even better sending a powered modulation signal directly into the antenna, but there are _no_ truly unoccupied frequencies in the metropolis I live in, meaning there will always be some interference. (Not to mention, how cool it would be to control the ipod with the steering wheel controls.)
I guess this is a question for jeep directly, unless anyone is familiar with this head unit.
