06 limited navigation/bluetooth

i'm about to get myself an 06 limited. It has navigation already but I have a few questions.

I'm not a big fan of the navigation interface, especially since i'm currently using a newer tom tom. I'm assuming the newer navigation disc wont help anything besides updating the maps. If I wanted the deck that is in the newer commanders, how much would that cost? and can that even be done?

Also, I know these installed navigations are much more expensive then then the after-market ones like tom tom but are they better in any way? for example my tomtom has iq routes and can use traffic if needed..

thanks!
