Sub help

I have a 2006 Commander 5 disc CD changer stock system. I don't want to change the head unit, but just add and amp and sub. Is this possible? And if so what connections or extra stuff do I have to buy to work this.

Very simple. First off, you have a 6 disc in dash system. To use the stock head unit and get rca's you will need a line out converter.

Then amp, sub(S) etc.

2006 Jeep Commander Limited, HEMI, QD2. AEM CAI, Cat Back Exhaust, Diablo Predator Tuner, MDS Active Light, I Pod Intergration, Passport 9500IX, 6k HID Low/Fog Lights, HIR High Beams, E&G Classic Grill, Limo Tint, Boss 329 22" Chrome Rims (summer), Limited Wheels With Toyo Open Country's (winter)

2005 GTO, M6, Volant CAI, Diablo Predator Tuner Enkie LXM 18" Chrome Rims, SAP Front Bumper, Summer Only.

2005 YFZ 450, BAD.

Agreed. I bought that same exact line out converter for my amp. I needed that, an amp wiring kit, speaker wiring, subs, and the amp and I was good to go.

Thanks for your replies, now on the line out converter I see where the 2 rca hookups are but on the other end are multiple wires. Do I have to splice into the head unit for those or what?

You should only need to hook up 2 of those wires, I used my driver door speaker and then run the rca's to the amp.

When you go to install your line-out converter the more wires that you use the better. Using only one set of wires will give you a limited sound because the sub will only operate off the electrical signals firing from that single speaker. At the very least i would connect two parallel sets of wires to provide a better quality.
