Installing after market DVD/GPS

Hi, I hopesomebody can help regards installing an after maket DVD/GPS to replace a 'REG' type radio in a 2006 Anniversary Commander.
I have been told if you self install it is possible to activate airbags!
Is it that difficult, or is it just a old wifes tale.
Hope someone can help

Thats just silly, what would cause the air bags to deploy?

Stereo upgrade is very easy. Do it yourself. Just be sure to do it parked in the garage, and not while you're driving down the freeway- that's a sure fire way to deploy your airbags.

There is an airbag warning on everything I think when it deals with electrical.
I had mine powered up when I changed it, blew the fuse a couple times...

I would suggest you disconnect the battery.

What the rumor is, is that in order to remove/install the radio, you have to remove the whole dash face plate on the 06. On the side of the dash with the bin (I'm not sure if your Commander is right hand drive), behind the bin is the airbag, but even with the dash face plate off, you can't see it. So, you run the risk of setting it off, which I highly doubt, since I have had my dash face plate off on numerous occaisons. But, to be on the safe side, disconnect the ground on the battery, as cico7 mentioned. Again, welcome to the forum, and please post pictures!

There was a guy here some time ago, from down-under, looking for the motor
serial number. Is that still important?
