in dash dvd player

I was looking to buy a in dash flip screen, and someone mentioned to me that there was a wire that was supposed to be hooked up so that the dvd player will not work while you are driving(or when vehicle is out of park). The reason for this is because the insurance company is not liable for any damages done to your vehicle just because of this wire not being hooked up, because you could watch it while youre driving. Has anyone ever heard of this?

In some states (soon to include AZ) it is illegal to have a monitor forward of the driver seatback, even it it is in your visor and turned off you could receive a citation.

Re: in dash dvd player

Well you must admit, that is different then watching a 2 hour movie while your driving through town! Your attention should be on the road, not on a movie screen. I might instal one in my Commander but would never think of watching a movie while I drive, I use my commander on the job and currently put my laptop on the dash for movie watching (late night job).
