drivers side speakers keep going out

hello,

about a month and a half ago i found water in the back seat and the dealer found that the dreaded sunroof drain lines were clogged. this problem was corrected, but the water found its way into the stereo system and has been causing an intermittent failure of all 3 drivers side speakers. at least i think the water caused it... it didn't happen before then.

since the problem first occured, they have replaced the amp (twice), replaced the head unit and replaced the drivers side dash speaker. all drivers side speakers went out again this morning on my way to work and i am about to lose it. has anyone had a similar problem or have any suggestions. i'm at the point where i don't want to take it back to the dealer because i think they're just shooting in the dark. btw, i've got a 2006 limited 5.7 4X4 with the REC sat/nav radio.

thanks.

Mine crackles, and it was in last week and completely replaced. On the way home from the dealership, it started crackling again. So much for "upgraded" Boston acoustic sounds system. It's s*it if you ask me. My wife's Neon sounds better.

My suggestion, get the stock speakers replaced under warranty, then go buy some real speakers, I suggest fosgate, JL Audio, or MTX, replace, put the stock speakers in the real speakers boxes, store them, then if you ever trade it off, put the crap speakers back in and move the real speakers to your next car.

Changing the speakers out in the Commander takes an hour tops.

dolfan, sounds to me like water damaged your wiring harness.

Yeah, on my Cherokee the driver speaker wire has broke twice in that tube. Right now, I have 3-speaker surround sound.

update: the dealership, at dcx's suggestion, replaced the wiring harness as a last hail mary and it is still doing the same thing. dcx now wants to buy back my commander because they can't fix it. anyone have any experience with this?? i haven't heard their offer yet but the jeep is two years old now... i was planning on keeping it a while.

Not sure on the "buying back" process. You will have to let us know... do they give you cash, do they just give you a non pre-owned (not saying new, because there probably still a few 06's and 07's that have never been owned out there).
