What is the radio amp?

Hi I'm in the UK and the nearest Jeep dealers 200 miles away. The sound only comes through the two dash speakers and not the rest. The problem from other posts seems to be the amp. Does anyone know what the original amp was and is the a better alternative? Many thanks. Jeep commander 3.0 crd 2006

Have you checked for codes and blown fuses. Youtube search how to do the key dance to get the Dash to display the fault codes, but unfortunately the dash will display some of the codes, mostly for powertrain but some for the body.

What little I do know about it, it is a computer controlled amp that is controlled through the vehicles CAN network. So it can't be remedied by replacing it with an aftermarket amp, there would be now way to control the aftermarket amp. Perhaps one of the PAC units can controll an aftermarket amp. But if you determine the OEM amp is blown, the easiest and most reliable would likely be to replace it with another OEM amp. You can find the part number in the parts manual.

If you have the factory Boston Acoustics system the amp is located behind the driver's side cargo area panel.
