Has anyone found a way to put a usb adapter in the pocket under the ac controls but still give it a clean look.

Have not seen it done. I'm sure there is a way.

You may have an easier time hiding one in the center console.

In my '06 Limited there is a small hole in the back (upper) part of that pocket under the A/C controls, that's perfect for taking a USB cord through.
When I installed my parrot, I needed a place to run my cord with USB / Ipod controls, and that was my first choice.
So you'd need to intercept a hot to power it up, but should be very easily done.
