REC Technical Information

I want to know how to get the internal schematics for the REC radio? I'm certain I could fix it if I had the information. The fan on the back of the unit does not come on. The fan is good. I unplugged it and connected it to a 9 volt battery, and it worked great. The radio is not turning it on, though.

The NAV screen is blacked out almost all the time except in cool weather. I'm not interested in spending $500 to fix what is probably a very inexpensive part within the radio.

When I spray Freeze-it on the left side of the radio, the screen comes on and works great until it heats up again. When I cool it back off, it comes on.

I'm thinking if the fan worked, so would the unit. But nowhere can I find technical information on the unit. To be sure one of you has fixed one of these. I'm hoping you can help!

Thanks!

I don't think you are going to get any intelligent responses (including mine) because you have provided ZERO information about your vehicle and the radio model # radio options & features etc.

My apologies. It is a 2007 Jeep Commander Limited with an REC navigation radio. P056038646AL is the part number for the nav unit.

This might help - better roll up your sleeves though:
