Amsoil Signature Series 0W-30

This stuff is pretty expensive. Do any of you use this? and if so, how often do you change your oil? Any measurable difference between this stuff and other sythetics? BTW- I have an 2006 XK 4.7 L

Thanks

I just switched to Mobil 1 synthetic my last oil change. But after talking to the Amsoil dealer for a couple of hours tonight, I am thinking about switching to the 0w-30. Amsoil recommends 25,000 or 1 year. I bought their gear oil for the front and rear diffs. Maybe HueyPilot has some input? I think he recently went to all Amsoil...

I actually changed all my fluids over to Amsoil a couple of years ago. I just did it as a preventive measure. I figured that it could not hurt to have a good quality synthetic in all the gear boxes and engine. I have had no problems but I guess that was the objective. I gave some away to TYMAC and I think it was Ped who won the other oil change at Silverton. I also use the Amsoil filters and gave some of them away. Maybe those guys have some input. In my opinion it might be hard to tell the difference until much later, but no trouble is the best outcome.

You can save money on Amsoil by being a dealer and it does not cost much to sign up online as a dealer. I bought several different product by the case so it made sense for me.

Did you also change over the trans fluid? Amsoil says their ATF can be used in place of the mopar ATF+4, any issues?

Yes I did the transmission, both diffs, and the engine. I have no problems with the Commander except having the A/C worked on once. That is the only time I have taken it in to the dealer for a warranty issue.

All the maintenance is done by people who I can watch using my system of being a lazy supervisor.

How are you going to drain, replace, and check the level of the Amsoil ATF with the sealed QT1 transmission?

Look up the procedure in the service manual or you could ask Jon to look it up as he has a full set of shop manuals. I do not have that transmission so I can not help on that. I did install a combination drain plug and temp sensor when I did change over to synthetics

Here is the link.

It's not really "sealed", just no real way to check levels w/out going to the dealer

If I can solve that problem, I will change over, just not sure when.
