Welcome to the forum, hope this helps

1. Remove Negative Battery cable
2. Place the front wheels in the straight ahead positon with the steering wheel center and locked with a steering wheel lock
3. Drain or siphon the power steering system
4. Remove the oil filter drip tray
5. Remove the pressure and return lines at the steering rack
6. Raise and support the vehicle and remove front tires
7. Loosen the tie rod jam nuts and remove the outer tie rods from the knuckle
8. Remove the front skid plate
9. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the front diff.(be sure to mark it)Disconnect the vent and QDII plug, if needed)Remove the front differental
10. Remove the two steering gear mounting bolts
11. Move the steering rack to the full right position to allow clearance over the control arm, then lower the gear down, then turn the rack to the full left position to allow clearance the remove the rack from the vehicle

This isn't word for word, on removing the differental you dont have to but it makes it alot easier. You can remove the front mount off the diff cover and unbolt the upper mount from the diff. and lastly remove the large metal weight on the rear of the diff and it will "spin" out of the way enough to get the rack out.... I have personally done this and it works.

What engine is this on? I was able to get the rack out of my 3.7 pretty easily without having to do anything with the front diff. "Spin" move is a great way to describe it. Make note of how you get it out- will make putting the new one in much quicker.

Kansas, you didn't have to remove your diff or spin it at all?
