IAC and TPS going bad at the same time?

been having issues with my 07 commander lately, while at idle the RPM'S would go wild at random and eventually it would stall but only while cold. but it got worse and then i started having issues at freeway speeds with the jeep down shifting than up shifting and never really holding a steady RPM. i finally sourced a faulty IAC and changed it out and solved the problem for about 1.5 days now I'm getting some jerking while stopping and a little fluctuating in the RPM at idle but nothing like what it was before. anybody know if its common for them both to go bad around the same time? it's an 07 4.7L and just turned 76,000 miles

Have you checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)? You can find how to's on Youtube on how to do the key dance and get the DTC's to read out in the EVIC display on the dash (where the messages print out, the direction, temp, etc).

As well, you're NOT overdue for any periodic maintenance items, like spark plugs or air filters?

When did the Commander's switch to Drive by Wire (DBW)? Cause my 2010 3.7L (the 6cyl version of the 4.7L) is DBW and thus has no Idle Air Circuit (IAC) motor. I've seen folks call other sensor/actuators IAC, is that the IAC you're talking about?
