Cabin Filter / pollen filter upgrade

As far as I know the Commander never had a Pullen filter just a basic click in wire mesh grill as seen here:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jeep-Comm...16.m2518.l4276

I want to up grade to a pullen cabin filter. These are advertised on eBay but they are for Grand Cherokees. Has anyone bought and fitted these GC pollen filters and do they fit correctly to a Commander?

I know I have read about this being adapted for Commander use. It required modification, and there are no drop in solutions unfortunately.

Ill have to see if I can find the thread.

Here it is

No cabin filter / pollen filter for a Commander

Thanks for the link. It just confirms what I thought, some of these Ebay ads are so wrong. How can these companies continue to advertise parts that don't fit in any way.
If I bought this part and found it didn't fit I'm sure they would offer me a refund but I'd have to return it to the UK or China at my cost.
Thank God for forums and the internet.

I may decide to do the adaption but it's a lot of money for a part that doesn't fit.

You can make it work. And I will be doing so @ some point, but there is no drop in solution unfortunately.

My other vehicle is the same way. Mine is the first model year to do without a cabin filter, some cutting and modification in the vehicle is required to install one.

I look forward to your update and maybe some info on how you made up the seal and locked it in place.
Could you do a video?

Another member already has done all of that

The intake is about 2" 3/4 X 11" 1/4... The filter is 3" X 15" 1/4 inches.
So yeah, it completely covers the intake! Just slide it up until the lip
on the intake hits the lip on the filter...

I got the idea while I was doing plumbing under the house.
The insulation is held up by some metal rods that squeeze
between the floor joists!

Just push in the middle of the PEX, and it will flex
in place and stay there. Use a flat head screw driver
to adjust it in to place.

I had to cut about half the tab off on driver side
because the top half was hitting the PEX. Still,
half the tab secures the screen with no problem.

That was the only mod I had to make besides cutting
part of the filter off.

The screen frame will push in on the filter when the tab (driver side)
clips into place. Don't worry, it's no where near the intake
plus it only pushes in about 1/4" inch.

Maybe you can see it in the video...
