So, this morning, I collected my new Centric rotors and EBC Greenstuff, along with all the tools I needed. I was ready to swap out the rotors and pads, then get on with the rest of my day.
I removed the passenger side caliper, pads, and caliper mount to start working on the rotor. After realizing there was a o-ring in my way, I made short work of the rotor and was well on my way to finishing that side. I was about to push the pistons on the calipers back in, when I found this travesty...
On top of how bad it looks with the chuck out of the rotor, it was started leaking brake fluid. Not sure why it had not previously, but it was now.
Needless to say, this was a new turn to my day. I called a good friend of mine who is a mechanic and has helped me bleed brakes on my cars previously. Then, I went to Autozone and found this
I was impressed that it actually has the Jeep pressed into it, which only reinforced that it was actually a good replacement. After obtaining this gem, I put everything back together, bled the brakes when my buddy arrived, and was on my way.
The new rotors and pads feel good.
Has anyone ever had that happen to their caliper?
