Bad cowl seal

Would it be a good idea to cut this out and use some sort of liquid rubber to seal it? Looking it up, the entire cowl piece is close to $300 new.

The same thing is happening with my 2006 Commander. Tempted to use something similar to caulking.. But didn't want it to look like crap. (Like a shower door seal??)

Does this part include the rubber piece? :

After doing some research, it seems that it's not a water seal, and more of a wind seal for noise. I'm going to try something different. I'm going to cut off the old rubber and try something liek this - Buy AmeriSeal COWL SEAL 31263 at Advance Auto Parts

On another note, do you have a video of how your 5.7 sounds with that muffler you have? I've been considering that one myself.
