Okay, read through this entire thread. I'm planning to replace all my pads and rotors. I hear the front is a breeze to do, although the rear rotors may be a problem to remove. Is this true? What did you use to remove them if they're not easily removable?
I've worked on a number of cars in the past, so I'm fully aware of what's mostly involved, just nothing as HUGE as the XK. Hopefully the fundamentals are still the same. Let me know soon...pads/rotors are enroute thru UPS and due to arrive by next week. Thanks all.
If your Commander has always been in the Houston area your rotors should come off with no brain damage.
Up here in the salty North, the rotors rust weld themselves to the axles, creating a bit of a character builder.
I am changing my own break pads for the first time so any help with detailed instructions and if any special tools are required would greatly be appreciated. I have experience changing disc brakes on motorcyles and I am assuming they are similar.

If you view page one of this thread, it should pretty much give you step-by-step instructions. I think the only details left are the specific socket/wrench sizes used. Good luck w/ the brake job... should be pretty simple. I'll probably do mine later this week myself.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
