2" Lift 255/70/17, spacer or new wheels?

Ok I've had my Commander for nearly 6 months and been fighting the urge to do mod's(just bought my first house, trying to be responsible and save some $). So i went with a 2" lift and a k&n replacement filter(i like the option of cleaning the filter, wasnt after HP). So i am at 45k on the stock forteras and they are about ready to be replaced(finally). I am going to be getting 255/70/17, something good for snow but not too aggressive.

But I am debating on putting spidertrax on with my stock silver five spokes or going to a 17x8 with a larger (25) offset. If i were to go with wheels I would do black, i love the blacked out look. I was hoping i could get a few pictures of guys with black rims with a similar setup and some with stock silver rims and spacers to drop some pics.

I also know there was a thread about painting your own wheels but has anyone ever paid to had their wheels powdercoated? just wondering what that would run.

If you decide to go with wheel spacers, check with cico7. He has some used for sale that will save you some bucks.

My tires are one size over stock, P255/65R17, approximately 1/2" wider and 1/2" bigger in diameter. I went with the 1.25" Spidertrax (WHS-006) because of the tires. I do not have a lift and I don't plan on getting one. I think the stance looks good. I will post other pictures on the Wheel Spacer Thread. On that thread, there are pictures that can help you. Cico7 has a set of 4 1.5" Spidertrax for sale (WHS-010).

2" lift. Wheels are 17x9 which means at least a 265 is recommended. Backspacing is 4.53 similar to running 1.5" wheelspacer. Lots more pics in my photo albums if you click on my screenname

dhh3-Thanks for the pics, It really helped me make my decision.

USMCMP-I really love those wheels. If I could get them in 17 x 8.5 so i could run 255 and not bend the pinch weld they would definitely be at the top of my list. But if you decide to get rid of your JC or get different wheels I would definately be on the list to buy them used!

I decided to go with spacers for now and keep shopping for wheels. So if anyone stumbles across a great deal on black 17x 8 (or 8.5) with a 4.5 backspace let me know. Or if anyone is interested in swapping the dark grey "hulk" wheels for a silver 5 spoke let me know.

Here is mine 255/70/ stock rims and no spacers.

I like it but if I could do it all over I would do the 265's with rims.

This just looks BAD A$$!

If you ran 265's would you have to trim or do any other mods with a min 2" lift? im in the same predicament, i have a stock 06 and wanna put wheels on it. i was thinkin 255 but if i could get away with 265 and no side affects id do it! and running a 4.5 backspace will give a wider stance right?

I am running 255-70R17 on stock wheels with 1" spacers and 2" RR Lift, no clearance issues, getting ready to replace with 265 70 17

Thanks to everyone that checked out, even posted and commented on my pics. Havent seen this thread in a while but happy I checked it again. D-nice yours is nice. They cant all be the same! I removed molded mud flaps that you have and debadged so no trail rated badge on the side either. Would love to have your gas cap and I want chrome mirrors!

To answer some questions: my rims and tires were originally mounted by my shop and they took them right back off because they thought they would never fit. They bent back the pinch welds for me so I dont know how much work that is. I think wheel well has to be removed which means dealing with dumb plastic rivets and then just a hammer to bend it back. Not that difficult. Trim AND/OR use heat gun on wheel well and NO RUBBING. Everything is perfect just like it should be. (I need to do a little more heating on right side personally but driver side full lock is perfect) 4.5 Backspacing is wider stance.
