Wheel Width & Tire Size

Gonna try and keep this simple, just like me, LOL. Anyway I am currently running 245/75/17's on the stock wheels. I am considering buying some different wheels, ones specifically that are 9" wide. Will this wheel width be too much for the 245? The reason I ask is that one of the tire size calculators I use said the 245 is good up to an 8" tire. What say ye?

I believe the minimum for a 9" wheel is 255, but I'm no expert.

245 is only 9.6" wide... i wouldn't run that on a 9" wheel.

Definately DO NOT run a 245 on a 9 inch wheel. There is no need for that. (Honestly not sure why you would even want to do that but thats neither here nor there). I personally wouldnt run anything under a 285 on a 9 inch wheel but then again thats just my opinion and preference.
