Bought Nitto Crosstek's

My ego took hold of me and didn't go for the Low RR tires I once spoke about. These are definitely more of an on road tire than the old tires I had. Much improved ride, sound, looks, and overall comfort over old tires. We will see about the longevity of these they are a (60k rated)620 treadwear, but the UTQG ratings on tires are not standardized, so we shall see how well the USA made Nitto does. I only got 34k out of the Cooper (also USA mfg.) 500 UTQG (50k tire) rated Big O Big Foot's I had. I religously had them rotated and every month would check T.P. (always kept at 40-42 psi.) Very dissapointed in those.

2007 Sport 4.7L Bought New in Dec. of 07' w45 miles. Now has 70k+ Miles & 8 pages of Repair orders-255/65/17 Nitto Crosstek's, Flowmaster 50 SUV, A/C Delco Double Platinum copper cores, AMS Oil All the way around, K&N Air Filter, Weather Tech Floor mats, Lifetime Bumper to Bumper Warranty Exp.- 2082

We have the Crossteks on our 08 Wrangler and so far so good. A local tire dealer was selling them "buy two, get two free" so we jumped. The JK has 18" wheels so tires are pricey for that thing.

I'm getting the Crosstecks on my Commander tomorrow. We really like them on the JK. The local Nitto dealer is running the buy 2 get 2 free deal again with lifetime rotation/balance. I have to buy a road hazard/6 month alignment deal though. $700 out the door.

How have they done on the heavier XK? Do you still like them as well as you did?

Well, after riding around on those crappy GY Forteras for 27k, the Nitto's feel really good! Its like going from wagon wheels to actual rubber tires kind of difference.

Just got in from driving about 40 miles in a 6+ inch wet snow with a 1/2" of ice underneath it.

Traction was good, as good as the Fortera

Braking suffered some, the Crossteks seem to squirm a bit but it still felt safe under neath me.

I drove by piles of piled up cars and went by many stuck/wrecked SUV/CUV with no problems. I even pulled up to a old Rover that had spun out on a steep hill, I asked him if he needed to be strapped, he said he was going to back down and run the hill again but he would let me back down first. i just said, " No thanks, I'm fine" and to his dismay, I pulled away with ease LOL! The Rover was on BFG AT's, 33x9.5 pizza cutters which should have done well in the slushy snow. I guess its just the traction control or maybe the 4500lbs Hemi powered beast. Eitherway, the Commander is a TANK in the snow!

My wife parked her JK and borrowed my XK to pick up the kids. She said the JK sucks in the snow compared to the XK.

I looked at those, they looked good but I opted for the Silent Armor's and they are great tires.. Probably the best all around tires I have put on a 4X4.. No noise, great on/offroad traction and nice looking tread..
