2008 Jeep Commander Overland 18" wheels needs new tires

Hello everyone!

I've checked the forums and read several threads, but can't seem to find an answer...

I need help with a question regarding new tires for my stock '08 Commander Overland w/18" wheels. I'd like to go bigger than the OEM 245/60R18's but I don't know how much bigger I can go w/out making any mods.
I really like the Toyo Open Country A/T II and the Nitto Terra Grapplers, but neither has my OEM size?

Are there any alternate sizes that will work?

Did some more checking and hoping either 255/55R 18's or 255/60R 18's will work...

Thanks for the help!

JohnW

Discount Tire,

I think the 275/55R18 would have some clearance issues in the XK fender well without a spacer.

Definitely.

Stock Jeep Commanders or Commanders using the 1/4" leveling spacer can fit the following tire sizes WITHOUT wheel spacers and no rubbing:

245/65R17 (Stock Tire Size)
245/70R17
245/75R17 BFGoodrich All Terrians (might have minor rubbing)
255/65R17

255/60r18 is the same height as 255/65r17

Sorry for the confusion. The plus zero sizes we list aren't necessarily for the factory wheels. In this case, you would want a lower offset and wider wheel to accommodate the 275/55R-18 size.

@JohnW - 255/60R-18's should work on your application without issue.

New here and not sure I can piggy back off this posted but my question is similar. Mine is a 2008 Limited with 18" rims and a 2.5" lift. Will 275/70/18 tires fit with 1.5 spacers?

My previous post addresses this

https://www.jeepcommander.com/forums/...ead.php?t=8393

Jeep Commanders ranging from the 2" spacer lifts to the 3.5 inch Rock Krawler kit can fit the following tires WITH wheel spacers but will cause minor rubbing: (MINOR TRIMMING OF THE REAR PLASTIC FENDER WELL AND BENDING OVER OF THE PINCH WELD REQUIRED)

255/75R17
265/65R17
265/70R17

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tir...0r18-265-70r17

275/70r18 is a 33"+ tall tire and nearly 11" wide. You would need a modified OME lift or superlift to fit that. Or some serious trimming.

275/65r18 is probably doable on that lift, although I would look @ 265/65r18
