Speedometer Adjustment

I plan on getting a lift and putting on some 265/75/17 tires, I went to the tire calculator posted by Phunkeydude, and the tires would put a 10% difference on my speedometer, if that is true, can it easily be adjusted and is it expensive.

Here are the tire sizes that can be reset by the dealer with the Starscan tool. Otherwise you will need a calibration tool from Hypertech (http://209.12.144.2/Products/Speedometer%20Calibrator) or AEV (http://www.aev-conversions.com/products/modules/).

I used the Hypertech tool and it works just fine. The AEV module is only for the 4" lift.

Not necessarily. You can still use it to calibrate the speedo.

Also, I was at the dealer a few weeks back and I asked him about the StarScan tool, and he looked at me like I had two heads - - he said there is another tech that would do that stuff. Gotta love some of these dealers.

I looked it up on autoanything and summit, both quoted at $230 for my 07 3.7l. http://www.autoanything.com/performa...&from_search=1 I'd rather just stick to knowing im going 4 mph faster than my speedo says than shell that much out.

will the hypertech programmer do anything to the shift points in the 3.7? i know that when i'm driving down the freeway with my 255's my jeep more or less likes to stay in the gear just under overdrive unless i'm on a slight downslope. lol is anyone else experiencing this?

I noticed that there were a few tires listed there that are the same size as the stock tires on the commander. Why would you need to re-calibrate the speedometer for that. I realize that not every tire is the exact same size but that would be a waste of time/money IMO.
