Tire help

I own a 2008 5.7 Hemi Commander. I just purchased tires that are 265 70 17. I tried to purchase spacers but they won't fit. Has anyone had any luck with fitting these size tires on this truck? I don't want to purchase different tires. Thanks!

I run those size tires but I have a 2 1/2" lift and 1 1/2" spacers. that is what it takes to run that size.

You haven't had any problems with adding the lift kit and the spacers?

Hi Dano, welcome to the forum. You might be going through some of the same thought processes I went through in the last few months, considering taller tires, maybe a lift.

I went with a 2 inch lift from Rusty's Offroad, 1.5 inch wheel spacers to bring the wheels and tires outboard for fit, and then I put on Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor 255/75/17's. Now I'm not saying you should necessarily do this, but I came to this decision after researching this site and asking questions like you are doing. Lot's of help is available.

You might want to take a look at the thread called My Little XK is Growing Up. The tires I chose are what I would consider about max for my lift. You would have better wheel well clearance with the 255/70/17.

I wanted more ground clearance and got about 3 inches more clearance with my combination of lift and tires.

We had to trim the plastic fender liner in the front and bend the pinch weld over. Some other forum members have also done this.

Good luck, ask a lot of questions, and post pictures.

Where did you get the 1 1/2 inch spacers? Did you have to change the bolts to longer ones for the rims? I purchased 5/16 and 1/4 at Pep Boys here in Albany NY. I guess the ones I purchased won't work from what you are saying.

I used Spydertrax spacers. Just do a search on the internet and you will find them. You might try a search on this forum also. If you wait I am sure that Jeep5253 will post the link for you. He is the resident search and link expert, unless that has now been forbidden by a rule change.

The spacers bolt on to your stock rotor and the spacer has bolts that your wheels attach to.

DId you change the shocks out from stock or are they aftermarket? Usually when you put in a spacer coil spring lift you also have to change the shock to a 2" longer ones instead so you won't blow the pistons in the shock off roading.Where did you buy your lift? Thanks for the info. Happy 2009
