Question *Spare Tire Question / Good to Use For a While?*

2006 Jeep Commander V6

The Stock Nexten Roadian P245/65R17 are in good shape.

The passenger side rear tire got a "pinhole in the sidewall". So I put on the spare tire.

It's a Goodyear Fortera P245/65R17. This tire is in great shape and has the same wheel/rim as the others so it looks fine.

Not sure why I made this thread other than to get reassurance that it's fine to use this "Spare" full size tire from now on. I'm going to get the Pinhole patched and use it as the spare tire now.

Anyone have an experience like this? Is this OK?

That should be fine for a while...not like there is a huge difference in them or that they are two different sizes...I would just get the other tire fixed asap just to be in good standing as far as even tire wear goes...and look into getting another tire for your spare so you dont have to worry about the match if you ever have to use it again...

2006 Jeep Commander 4.7L 4wd Loaded, 2" Daystar spacer lift, rear hitch tow hook, Custom 4" ram air intake, Optima yellowtop battery, semi-custom rock sliders, 245-75-R17 Goodyear Silent Armors, Hidden emergency lights all around (undercover cop look), bug deflector, stick-ons, and MUD occasionally.

Even if there is a minor difference in sizes you should be ok. It is only when you are running tires as far as 1-2 inches difference in size that I think you would run into an issue.

FYI the Forteras are the stock tires that the Commanders come with. So i am assuming you bought your Commander used and the previous owner put the Nexten Roadian (never heard of them) on the vehicle.

I think the brand is Nexen not Nexten.

I just changed a flat this morning. The Forteras are stock, including the spare. The spare is EXACTLY the same tire. The wheel is EXACTLY the same wheel except it is painted black ( I hate that ). You can run the spare for ever.

American by birth, Southern by the grace of God.
