Seat Heater / Power Seats

I have a 2006 jeep commander, and I am thinking of purchasing a set of powered and heated leather seats for my jeep. My jeep only has a power seat on the drivers side, does any body know if there is a wiring harness factor installed on the passenger side that I can connect the new powered seat to, or will I need to install the correct wiring?

Also how difficult is it to install the factory seat heating buttons on the dash, and is there wiring available at the seats I can connect to.

Thanks for the help-

Here is where you can get the seat heaters:

The instructions show you where the switches mount.

I'm not sure about the harness for the power passenger seat. There were three option packages for the base Commander in 06: S,T, and U. You have the S package, the only one with out the power passenger seat. So, it might be possible that the harness is there, since the other two packages have it. The carpet under the seat is split, so reach down under the seat and feel around and try and locate it. Since the switches are built into the side of the seat, you'd have to replace the plastic on the side of the seat, or locate a whole seat in a salvage yard. Good luck.

The wiring differences between the S, T, and U models unfortunately means that there is no wiring in place to support OEM heated seats that you might get from a salvage yard, etc. I only know this for the heater element, so you should still look into the seat motor aspect.
The JustforJeeps.com heater kit will work fine, but so would any 12V aftermarket kit, since it just taps into your acc. power outlet/cig. lighter. I got some carbon fiber elements off eBay for about $60/seat and they've been great. Installation can be easy, depending on where you want your wires and switches, but it's a DIY project regardless. Search for "Katzkins" here and I have a thread with some pics of the steps.

I have a similar question, instead of starting a new thread, I'm gonna ask in here.

I have an 06 Sport. I have power driver and passenger seats and heated seats in the front. With my trim level, would I be able to install rear heated seats similar to how the original poster asked? Just plug and mount the switch in the area in the console? Or would it have to be wired to the rear seats?

I would prefer something that is stock looking/functioning so I'm not looking for something that plugs into a cigarette outlet or power adapter.

I don't remember which year the Overland trim introduced heated seats in the second row, but I would be surprised if your seats were prewired. Sorry. But you can add an aftermarket kit there too; lots of wire splicing to accommodate the tumbling seats, but it can definitely be done. Peek through my thread- I thought the job came out looking pretty stock.
