Power Liftgate

Ok now that the 2007 are coming out with a power liftgate is there a way to mod a 2006 to install a power liftgate? Has anyone contemplated doing this?

Re: Power Liftgate

Anything is possible with enough time and money. In addition to the motor and wiring harness, you would also need the interior side panel to accomodate the mechanism. You would also need a new key with the liftgate button and a new overhead console with the liftgate button.

2006 Steel Blue 5.7L HEMI Limited 4x4 Build Date: June 9, 2006 Hour 14
Interior: Dark Slate/Light Graystone with Saddle Brown Leather Seats
Quadra-Drive II, NAV, DVD, Trailer Tow Group IV, Off-Road Group II, Remote Start, UConnect, Rear Backup Camera, Chrome Wheels,
Magnaflow cat-back exhaust, Daytime Running Lights enabled, 2" Rough Country Lift with 265/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S

Re: Power Liftgate

Interesting. I would assume an 07 side panel is the same as the 06. Don't need a button in the overhead console. My Yukon has this and I never use it. Whats nice is the button on the keyless remote and the button on the liftgate handle. I could do without the remote button but the button on the handle is a must. I might do some further investigation into this. Sound like its a possibility. Its my wifes only bitch about the Commander. Well that and the gas mileage, but hey, its a Hemi.

You need to go to a dealership and look at a power liftgate. I think you will decide that it's not do-able without spending a good deal of money.

Re: Power Liftgate

Also would need to reprogram one of your modules to include the lift gate. Probably would be easier to go find a 2007 and trade your 2006.

Too many mods on my 2006. I really don't want to do over just for a power lift gate. Oh well. It was a thought.
