Anyone tried dying the dash vents?

I got a bunch of RC trucks and often times dye plastic rims using rit dye, I was looking at my dash and was considering dying my dash vents a darker shade of black but am unsure if would work. Anybody know? Also has anyone had any sucess painting the faux wood around the climate controls and by the window controls on the doors? Id like them to be black but am nervous about paint as I think it will wear off and end up looking like crap.

If it wears off you can always repaint it.

I haven't painted my Commander's trim at all but I did paint my entire dash of a Cavalier and an S-10 that I had. I only had the Cavalier for a year before I wrecked it and got the S-10 so I don't know how the paint on it would have lasted. I just sold my S-10 after having it for 6 years and the paint looked just as new as when I put it on. I did standard primer - base coat - clear coat. I actually used the factory paint code and it held up really well! Considering I only had the truck 3 days when I painted all the interior trim, I think it lasted beyond my expectations. Good luck and keep us updated on decisions and progress!

I'm looking into Hydrographics/Water Transfer Printing for several pieces. The process seems to have limitless applications, and sounds durable enough for everyday use. Anyone else looked into this?

A lot of guys on the JK Forum paint there interior and it looks amazing. I dont think they use a normal can of spray paint though.

When I first moved to the USA from the UK, the first car I bought was an brand new 03 Tiburon. I did all sorts of things to that car, supercharger, CAI, drop, wheels, but one of the best things I did, was remove all the interior trim pieces and took them to the dealer bodyshop, where they sanded, primed, painted and clearcoated all pieces for me for $50.

It's worth looking into. I had that car as a show car and the paint was incredible on the dash in metallic silver.

I have pics at work, I'll post some tomorrow.

What would you do to wear paint off the dash? My dash doesnt get enough action to worry about wear....well other than the
time Bill grabbed the dash with both hands.....my point is that other than cleaning the dust off, there isnt much that will cause
"wear " on the dash. Seems to be protected from UV's so i dont think it would be a problem.

I painted my dash a year ago, it is a double din, bought it khaki and had to paint it. The only problem I have is the dash is
rough, so you cant use a paper towel to clean it with.
