HID Kit...

I know the adage, you pay to play, so I probably already know the answer to this question!!!

What are the thoughts of a drop in kit like this and will it still work with the automatic on/off function of the Commanders headlights?

I thought I read somewhere there was a issue with them and auto headlights. But not 100% sure so don't quote me on this.

Although I have tried some of the unbelievably cheap Ebay versions of the usually expensive mods, I don't know that I would trust headlights. I would hate to be driving down the road in the dark and have the lights decide to stop working all at once. It is just my nature to be skeptical of the "too good to be true" things. For the $20 it may be worth a try but only if you drive around with the lights on during the day to test it out.

Bright Silver 4.7L 2.25 RR/OME lift, Kumho KL71 265/70/17, Flashpaq, Lights, rack, intake, Super44, mopar skids, 4x belly guard, rear fog lights, MM9500 winch, GetLost4x4 winch mount

Pay the money to get a decent kit. I got mine off Ebay from velocitygetter.ca. I have had them in 5 months and just went and got the fog light ones as well. They are illegal and could be a problem but my visability at night is more important to me. I love mine and have had only 2 issues:
1. I had to remove the compasitor from the relay harness. It is supposed to store the energy so the lights has enough power. Mine would stay on if there was any type of power going to them, hazzards, park etc. Once I had the HID guy help me figure it out, no issues at all, work fine witht the auto on
2. I had to cut and reverse the plug on the light side of the relay. I had to do it for the fogs too. Not sure if it is just my kit but all works perfect now.

I spent about $275 getting an a Denso/ Philips kit. I trust OEM quality the most for many reasons.

I’ve been really happy with my converted fog lights. The wide pattern makes a 270 degree sweep of daylight, (from guardrail to median) and the low cut beam doesn’t bother other drivers. Even though the beam pattern is close in, street signs glow from 500 feet away.

I tried them in the headlight position, but the glare is too much. The reflector is all wrong for the long HID elements, so you get brighted no matter how low you aim ‘em. And, the flickering and/or not restarting problem was a PITA. No problems in the fog position.

I bought mine from here: (Actually, I bought four kits… for other things I’ve converted too)
