To those of you with LED tail lights...

My LED tail lights arrived this evening, I was out at a concert (Flyleaf/Papa Roach/Breaking Benjamin) so didn't get a chance to look at them till 11:30pm this evening.

I had them all hooked up by midnight to test them before installing them fully, and come to find that only one of the four LED panels lights up between the 2 tail lights (two LED panels per light). Not happy at all. I even interchanged my bulbs back into the housings to confirm all is ok, and they are fine.

So I am going to have to try and return them, not a happy camper.

But before I do, just wanted to check, to those of you that have them installed... the little resistor pack that come with them that you would attach to the Jeep, that doesn't ground them in any way at all. I didn't stick them up, because I figured (for once) I would be smart enough to test them first before fully installing them and I am glad I did!

Any help would be appreciated, but my conclusion is duff LED units.
Just hope I can either get them exchanged or a refund.

I sent the message to them at 12:44 last night, not expecting a reply for a while, so I went to bed. Got a reply at 1:04 asking for the pictures I took. So this morning I sent them back off to her so I'll have to wait and see what they say.

Left OEM showing all working bulbs

Right OEM showing all working bulbs

Left LED showing no working LEDs and only the OEM side light in the bottom left.

Right LED showing only one working LED and the OEM side light in the bottom right.

So waiting to find out what they'll do about it.

This might be old but that looks to me like the polarity was reversed when he installed the lights. The plugs from the LEDs can be installed either way into the socket from the factory tail harness. If you Match up the Green ground from the LED plug to the ground from the factory socket so they are on the same side you wont have a problem. Also to note, I purchased these tails from CUPRA and they have worked perfectly since installed 5 months ago.

Hi I think there is actually a special thread for this issue, I also bought mine a couple of weeks ago and they work perfectly, but I agree with the last post, they did make pretty clear that the polarity had to be checked and rechecked before you messed up the units or some relays. However rare but not impossible, LED units do have a higher rate of defective units, so that its also a posibility.

Sorry, I've not been on here in quite some time after buying my Camaro SS.

As CKB3 mentioned, I did get it all sorted out a few days after I posted this.

I realized that I had the connectors around the wrong way in three out of the four LED's! Doh. After continuing and having another go at installing, I got 3 of them out of the four working, so process of elimination, I worked out that they had to be installed one way round in the connector, even tho they could be connected two different ways. The ground had to line up for them to work.

CKB3 - Glad that they are still working out for you!
