Got Lights Behind the Grill??

Hey guys, I've been searching all over the place to find install pics of the few of you (CanadianCommander, Lekmedm, Cico7, Down2Far...) that have aux driving lights mounted behind your grill...but haven't found much. Can you guys chime in and maybe take a couple close ups behind your grill of your lights, mounting points, and maybe some wiring?

Much appreciated! Thanks!

Aaron

BEHIND the grill? Really? I haven't seen any pictures on here of anyone doing that or even talking about it. Be interesting to see some and how well/bad they work.

I've had mine out modifying things and the like. (Not to mention upgrading to chrome) Unless the lights are pancake flat, it ain't gonna' happen. It's close quarters in there.

My HID's are mounted on the bumper with an aluminum bracket setup I made. The HID's are pretty big though, as their ballasts are built in. Notice my added grill mesh which hides the unsightlies behind it.

This is something that I have been curious to see. I've seen lights mounted on the grill, but none behind the grill. Wouldn't it be possible to mount Hella 500 lights behind the grill (if I remember correctly those lights are pretty slim but still bright)?

I pulled off the grill and there's a surprising amount of room between it and the radiator support. There are many lights that I think will work, the Hella 500s might be a little wide...each grill slot is about 3 inches wide, and I think the 500s are about 6". I'm not sure how overlapping the slots would look.

I listed all of the members in my original post that I've noticed with them, and Cico7 included a set of pics in his garage about his install - but the photos are no longer showing up. I've read all the threads I could find that mention driving lights, but I just wanted to see some closer pics of the lights behind the grill. Thanks for looking guys!

Here is a bookmark I saved https://www.jeepcommander.com/forums/...t=lights+grill
I think this has the the instructions I used. Any other direction. I'm sure someone can offer. I also ran mine to come on with my brights. I had some Hella 500's already, so that's what I used. You can also look on some dodge ram forums. I think that's where I first saw the idea.
I just propped my laptop up nearby and compared the photos and drilled my two holes, very easy. Good luck! I love this mod.
There is sticky on removing your front facia, If you haven't done it yet. (you just need to remove the grill).

Thanks Down2Far, that link is exactly what I'm looking for. Now I just need to decide which lights to get...CanadianCommander mentioned in a PM that he used 3" driving lights, which should fit the slots perfectly. Any other suggestions out there for lights? Thanks again!

Oh sweet! That looks pretty awesome if you don't want to spend money on a mount for them elsewhere or don't have a bullbar/roofrack yet.

Is that the easiest way to mount them behind the grill (or can you buy a bracket that attaches behind the grill)? If so, is there any way to mount them a bit lower so they don't get cut off at the top? This has been a mod I've had in mind but never thought about it seriously until now. Definitely a cool mod.
