I bought a Commander about a month ago, and so far so good. Rides better than any of the Cherokees I've had and that 3rd row's a keeper. I was wondering if any of you can help me out with something.
I need to put a ski/snowboard rack on the roof, and any ones I have don't fit the Commander side rails. My car has the factory crossbars on it, but my dealer's telling me that if I buy the the Mopar ski/snowboard rack I first have to buy the "Sport Utility" crossbars to attach it to. We're talking close to 500 bucks total.
Here's the question: Provided I can find the right size adapter, is there any reason I couldn't attach a ski/snowboard rack directly to the factory crossbars? I'd even buy the mopar rack if by using some adapter I could attach it to them. I just can't see putting out a couple hundred bucks for the "Sport Utility" crossbars if I don't have to.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
