Hood Vents Anyone?

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, I've been busy, but over the last couple of months I've noticed my engine bay gets insanely hot and thought of maybe cutting into my hood and doing hood vents/louvers to try and vent some heat out of there. Anyone done or seen that? I've got a few options I'm looking at.

If anyone has some suggestions of louvers they'd like to see let me have them, louvers I'm looking for in size and style aren't easy to find. I want them as big as reasonably possible and I'd like to do only 2 in the center, and the more flush I can get them the better. I saw some Wrangler ones that looked interesting but I don't think those are what I'm after.

Have you considered maybe looking for an aftermarket fiberglass hood with the scoops already in place?

Just wondering.

I've been thinking same exact think. I thought my fan or thermostat must not be working but same thing. The black heat covering over the wiring in my engine bay has all cracked and crumbled up. It is a 2006 5.7 but still. Was thinking about talking to someone or putting in vents before replacing all heat coverings

I've been looking at aftermarket parts for the commander since 2011 and I always "hopefully" check hoods and bumpers and have not once seen a hood other than stock, so I just figured I'd just make my own.

Do you have any pictures of the heat damage. Sounds strange. My 06 XK Limited (113K miles) looks new under the hood.

PaulD not sure how to put up pics yet sorry but will figure it out shortly. Just Black wire loom is dry rotted and brittle, I assumed from heat.
