Good alternative to mesh grill?

Well, as the title of the thread states, I am looking for an alternative to the mesh grills currently on the market for the commander. The E&G one is too bulky and the DUB one is too expensive. I was looking to purchase these mesh inserts (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__JEEP-COMMANDER-CHROME-MESH-GRILLE-INSERT-05-08-07-06_W0QQitemZ180326329249QQadiZ2865QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q 20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQcmdZViewItemQ QptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item18 0326329249&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A54 3|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318). Since I have a black commander, I was thinking of buying these in black and inserting them behind my chrome grill (seller paints black for extra $7). They seem like a very cheap and somewhat effective alternative. What do you guys think?

p.s. I know the best option is the DUB grill, but anything over a couple hundred bucks is a lot for an 18 year old such as myself. With that said, I would rather not touch the grill at all than add something that will make it look real cheap. Hopefully somebody has had some experience with this option in the past and can give me an idea of what it would look like on the car. Thanks.

The grille I have looks great in my opinion and is not as expensive as DUB (which I don't think is the best one anyway).

Stock Grille

Billet Grille Inserts

Here it is on eBay for $80. (the Commander pictured is mine): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-09...Q5fAccessories

Here it is for $35. (another angle but also my Commander): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-08...Q5fAccessories

a49er, your grill looks real nice. The only thing is that I'm looking for more of the black mesh look to match up with the chrome factory grill. Thanks for the recommendation though, truly a good option if the mesh doesn't work out.

I have a new DUB grille that can ship from a Chusler dealership to ya for $263.00 including shipping.

Otherwise I had my custom guy actually black paint me up some custom stainless steele inserts. (As I didn't wanna pay for the high end DUB chrome grille, only to paint it balck anyhow)

I purchased the grill from a 2008 Overland. The inserts are black, an open cross hatch 3D look, not a tight mesh. The GC Overlands use the same pattern. I like the look, as well as the black contrast to the chrome surround.

Thanks man. I'm actually going with the E&G grill. I came to the same conclusion you did and didn't want to pay for a dub grill that I would have just painted black.

p.s. $263 is the cheapest I have heard for that grill. I saw those going for $400+ a while back. Thanks for the offer though, really appreciate it.
